You are exactly right! I felt like everyone had a great time and enjoyed just the simple fact of seeing one another again. Every group I saw was laughing and smiling. The important thing was that we wanted to see each other- no matter where we were.

I was not at the 88 reunion so i can not speak that it was a copy of that but it was definitely a good time. Remember we are in Ohio, by a pool could be hit or miss thats for sure. Even though it was a really busy weekend it was great to see everyone!

I am sorry I missed it--facing 6 hours at Apple Butter demanded sleeping for more than 4 hours! I am glad you had a good time. I agree about the motivation for the reunion in the first place. I am going to talk to our alumni association about getting something together for graduation--passing the torch, so to speak.

There were a lot of us at breakfast at the Golden Jersey Inn. We had a great time and a great breakfast. I thought it was a great weekend! I had a super time talking with everyone. No matter what is planned at the reunions it is about getting together and enjoying old friends and making new friends!

Sorry all, but I was there. However, didn't see anybody. Went to the Farm Store and had a lousy breakfast after dragging myself from the airport after flying in from Chicago for work. Sorry I missed you all but you know how to keep in touch. See you all again soon. Let's do something original next time and not copy off the class of '88. Maybe pick another month when it is warmer and have it by a pool instead of during cold and flu season when an H1N1 vaccine is not required for a public gathering. Take care. Di

I must admit that I did not drag myself to Young's this morning. Just needed to collapse before having to spend 6 more hours at the Apple Butter Festival today. Please, those of you that attended, please share how everything went.

Base (Main event)

The O'Club did a beautiful job setting up for our event. We had a memorial table at the entrance honoring our deceased classmates and military. A mannequin wearing my senior band uniform hosted the memory table that displayed a photo album from every play from 8th grade on that Barb Arnold directed. Thank you to Susan Clark for bringing all of our yearbooks (even from middle school!). Thank you to everyone else who shared photos and other memories with the class.

The bar tender was a friendly guy (and great dancer). I appreciate your taking great care of him, as he seemed to be taking great care of us. The cocktail hour offered fruit and cheese to warm everyone up for dinner. Our DJ (Jason Roberts) helped herd all of us to our tables and provided fun trivia about much of the music he was playing from "back in the day," when he was actually on the radio at Z-93 (he moved on before I started working there, but radio is a small world!).

As dinner was winding down, I awarded some gifts and door prizes. Brian Ebersole won a road atlas for being the person who traveled the farthest to join us (more than 2,200 miles). Christy Zambon won a U.S. puzzle for being the person attending that had lived in the most states (8). Nichole Russell won a crystal centipede pin for being the person with the most legs in her house (14). James Hardman won a 3D globe puzzle for being the person who has lived in the most countries (4). I awarded door prizes from The Funny Bone comedy club, Young's Jersey Dairy, Burt's Bees, and 2GB flash drives engraved with Greenon High School Class of 1989. The table decorations (a knight's helmet bank) were awarded to a member from each table via a sticker on the underside of their chairs (that was fun to watch ).

The staff of the base worked on getting our lighting just right so we could still see eachother to talk and enjoy the music. Everyone danced (nearly everyone, anyway), to everything from Vanilla Ice to the Beasty Boys, and from Frank Sinatra to Rick James.

The party rocked on until midnight when the die-hards headed back to Legend's for a final round. (Seems that a few people had a little trouble getting from one place to another) All together, the evening was great fun. Everyone looked wonderful--the class of 1989 is aging well .

Apple Butter

The Apple Butter Festival has grown so much in its 31 years. The Greenon Band opened the event, as usual, with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. The pillars in front of Enon Elementary were recently rebuilt as part of an Enon Historical Society restoration effort and Greenon band and choir participated in the dedication ceremony. A time capsule was sealed inside one of the pillars to be opened in 50 years--see you all there !

A few of our class passed through Enon Park. I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather (certainly great after Friday night). Hope you were able to get the customary Walking Taco, Apple Fritter, Chicken and noodles, and Funnel Cake!

20-year seasoned cohorts + alcohol + opportunity = great conversation, happy re-connecting, and a little booty-shaking

It has been a few years since I closed a bar, and have never done it surrounded by people I actually know (or at least know as well as anyone can know someone she graduated with).

Seeing the many familiar faces, even if names were occasionally a little tough to recall for some, was a great end to a soggy night and a wonderful warm up for the weekend's festivities.

Pictures were being taken so often you would have sworn a strobe light was around.

The few classmates who will not make it to dinner that we partied with last night included Lee Cantrell, Joe Cook, Anthony Williams, Andy Bell, Jenny (Hoback), and Curt Hedberg (and a few faces from other graduation years). Thanks for a great night, in spite of the service. Thanks for venturing out in yucky weather.

I am off to Enon Park and the Apple Butter Festival. Hope to see you all there!

Football game

Well...true to form, the homecoming game was rainy and cold. The field was a mess. The alumni band was not as well attended as had been hoped--probably something to do with the 55 degrees and rain. We marched from the school to the field to play before the game, with the National Anthem led by Mr. G (He looked great. It was like no time had passed for that moment on the field.).

I was disappointed to discover that the "roped off area" for the 50 Greenon 89 alumni was not obvious to anyone. I hope that as the game goes on, the brave alumni who stayed at the game will find each other. I saw April (Tranter), Lisa (Fitch), and Amy (Moore), in the stands. Rusty Myers, and Renee (Kelley) marched in the alumni band on a field that was slipperier than any I can recall from high school (just getting old I suppose). Anthony Williams was in attendance a the game--his daughter is in the Greenon Band Flag Corps.

Sadly, though, I decided that sitting through a football game in the pouring rain was not my cup of tea anymore so I am now home updating the page. I am drying out and will be heading to Legend's shortly--I expect that the turn out will be better there than at the football game.(For those of you that have not visited in a while, Mr. Dunstan joined our website today.)
